Ultra-marathon is a sport with loneliness, no audiences, no applause, no cheers, and even no rewards. Maybe we can say that it is beyond any other sports event. I experience my physical limit and psychological will through every process, every race with dangerous environments, and every day with training and job together in my life.
I am often asked: " Why do you insist on participating in such a dangerous ultra-competition? ". I think I find the value of being in this world and some answers to my life because of these events.
Although I have to sign on a Release and Waiver of Liability before each race, I want to keep challenging to become an all-around venturesome athlete. I will explore the world by my feet, appeal for the care about the change of environments by my heart, and share the meaning of lives with others. My name is Tommy Chen and my dream just starts!
